Alrighty - Since the kids have a blog for reviewing books, I thought I'd make a blog about what is going on around here. We are super busy all the time, it seems. Let's see - here is what we have been up to lately and what is coming up soon.
K's 10th birthday was on November 11th. One of her best friends shares the same birthday. They had a party together on the 27th. We had cake, a pinata, and they tie-dyed shirts. Sheesh was here for Thanksgiving, so the cousins got to come to the party. Yay!!
E's 7th birthday was the 24th. We volunteered at the local Food Bank for a few hours with our 4-H group. The kids worked really hard and we had good time. E's party is coming up the weekend. We will have pizza and party games. A few homeschool friends are coming, and a few friends we have kept in touch with from school last year should be there, too.
Right now, we are involved in "Santa House". A local museum has a program every year that includes a play, a story with Santa, cookies with Mrs. Claus, and the making of an ornament. The kids are in the play this year. Yesterday was the first day. The kids were nervous, but they totally rocked. We will do it again today!
On Thursday, I have been invited to a party! Ack! Adult female interaction without children! We will have a recipe exchange and sit around eating and flapping our gums, I guess. I can honestly say I have never been to anything like that. I am so anti-social. But, I really like these other homeschooling moms, so I anticipate I will have a good time. I will pick up one of my friends and we will go together. Maybe that will make it easier and less nerve-wracking.
This Friday we will be attending a special presentation of The Nutcracker. The ballet company puts on a shorter show for the kids, and the homeschool group is getting together to go. I think I may be more excited than the kids for this one. Heh.
On the 10th, we will be volunteering at the Humane Society with our 4-H group. The girls are excited about playing with the cats and walking the dogs. J is excited because I told him that his friend signed up to volunteer, too.
K has a dentist appointment on the 16th to have two baby teeth removed. They are infected, so they have to go. She just got through with a round of really foul tasting antibiotics. She was a trooper, though. It had to be taken every 6 hours, so we were waking her up at 4:30 every morning to take it. It smelled like cherries and death. Poor thing. She took it without complaining, though. And she would even remind me that it was time for the medicine. I hope this dentist experience won't freak her out too much. My mom is going to take her. Laurie has to work, and even the thought of going there makes me light headed. I almost fainted when I took Laurie to his oral surgery. I don't think I can handle taking K to hers. I am a BIG wimp when it comes to all things dental.
And now that I have written a novel here, I have to wake up the girls to get ready for the day.
I LOVE the blog! Julie, I know how you feel about the social thing....It does get easier with time and practice. I have a group of sewing friends and I love to visit with them...but I still would rather be at home (most of the time).
ReplyDeleteWow! You guys are busier than a one-legged man in a butt-kicking contest! It sounds like home schooling is really agreeing with your family.
